Why are we bothering with Bless Online?
To that, I ask you...
1. Why not? Just what else do ya have to do right now?
Currently, with the exception of WoW's new BFA hovering somewhere on the horizon, the MMO genre has become a bit stale and many of the games we are anticipating are still a year or so off. From browsing Reddit, I've seen players mention that hopping into Bless is like playing old school WoW for the first time, and they haven't really had an MMO evoke that feeling of newness, difficulty, and nostalgia in a long time. While nostalgia may not always be a great thing, Bless has somehow managed to hit that sweet spot, and offers something akin to a mixture of all the most popular MMOs out today. (Neverwinter, GW2, BDO, AA)
2. Bless Online is too Western for Korea and Russia.
Over the past few months, there has been a lot of speculation around why Bless failed in Korea and Russia-and a lot of it seems to boil down to the game just not fitting that audience. While most European and Eastern MMOs tend to focus on 'the grind', Bless seems to fall short on that aspect-which may be fantastic news for our launch.
3. Developers are passionate and adamant about making it work.
After the setback overseas, the folks in charge of Bless have been very vocal in Discord and on Steam. They are extremely patient and have made it clear that they've been listening to the feedback from players and are driven to making the game a success over here. The new additions to the combat re-vamp, and absence of pay-to-win items in the shop are clear indicators of this. They are very aware that the community does not want another pay-to-win cash grab MMO, and that model won't work well for retaining players in the long run in the US.
4. ^They are taking pay-to-win items out of the cash shop.
If you're familiar with the cash shop of GW2, you'll probably also enjoy Bless Online's shop system. Supposedly, we'll be able to earn money in game, and exchange it for what is currently called 'Lumena' to buy things in the shop.
5. We love to PvP, and Bless allows you to declare war on allies as well as fight the enemy faction in open world PvP combat.
If you played ArcheAge or BDO with us, this probably sounds familiar to you-it's a bit of a combination of both, which I adore. You don't have to worry about getting ganked by friendlies unless your guilds are at war. In turn, red is absolutely dead and creates a strong sense of faction pride. Get out there and skin those cats for the glory of the Emperor and the Holy Empire.
6. Character creation is stunning. Have you seen the Lupus? Yes, Lupus. Not Pantera. We cannot suffer the heretics to live.
If you fell in love with the character creation in BDO, you'll probably enjoy this just as much. While you can't customize the hair as much as you could there, you can do just about everything else. Want a pink haired Mascu, with one blue eye and one purple? Yeah-you can do that, unfortunately.
7. It isn't FTP.
Though it's an odd reason to want to purchase a game, it's one that definitely turned our attention back to Bless. Currently, the business model has not been finalized, but it is rumored to be BTP. BTP (buy to play) means you pay for the game once, and it's yours forever. No subscriptions, etc. We've been burned enough in the past by free to play games to know that when something says it is FTP, that it usually doesn't mean quality. I would much rather sink a small chunk of money in a game (and my wallet not be drained for months on end afterwards) than to not support the game and developers and get a rushed, terrible product.
With all of that being said, these are only a few of the reasons why we'd like you to join us on this new chapter in our gaming experience. With every game we've gone to, we've managed to take away some pretty fantastic players and integrate them into our gaming community, create lifelong friends, and make hilarious memories. These things are what the Iron Circle Guild was founded on. A community of players who just enjoy hopping into comms and gaming together-be that PC or Tabletop. So, let's get out there and bring the glory of the Emperor to those southern heathens. I can't wait to see where Bless Online takes us, and look forward to all of the new memories we'll make together.
The Iron Circle is a PC Gaming, and Tabletop Roleplaying guild focused on creating a community of mature, intelligent, funny and down to earth folks who are more interested in camaraderie over strict progression. We want the Iron Circle to be a place for adults that can enjoy socializing with friends as much as they enjoy playing the games themselves. Though we are NOT a hardcore group of gamers, we do expect our membership to hone their skills and to make sure that they're able to pull their weight. No matter which branch you choose to join - We expect you to try. We might not be playing for the top position, but we certainly aren't aiming to be last.
